Sewing Production Supervisor

Summary

Your primary responsibilities are the same that are required for a business to grow, be profitable and work as a team to reach this goal. This include maintaining impeccable quality while efficiently consuming labor and materials. The combination of quality and production efficiency allow the company to consistently meet or exceed the client's expectations, provide competitive pricing while turning a realistic profit.

The ability to consistently achieve these goals requires a well-trained and motivated workforce. The job description will focus on your responsibilites on training, providing consistent quality and production efficiency.

The Sewing Production Supervisor is directly responsible for the performance of all sewers, samples makers and material handlers. You are also required to communicate with the cutting room, maintenance, shipping and receiving plus the warehouse as they related to your ability to produce products.

Primary Responsibilites

  • Meeting with an employee to dicuss their performance while maintaining a level of professionalism.
  • Clearly define the issue/issues with their performance
  • Provide solutions to assist the employee to improve performance including items like additional training, wasted motion, etc. Review the required level of performance and if necessary explain why it is realistic to produce both quality and quantity in the time allotted.
  • Provide the employee with an outline of the corrective action plan including goals, goal post to track improvement and a timeline to reach standard.
  • The action plan can be included in the employee's personnel file or note, based on conversation with the plant manager.
  • The supervisor must remain professional, confining comments to the fact and no personal comments or derogatory remarks or physical contact.
  • The goal of the supervisor is to be respected because of your knowledge and consistency of expectations
  • Evaluate employee potential and work with them to achieve or exceed it.
  • To suspend or terminate an employee requires the plant manager to sign off.
  • Enforce all company policies and standard of performance
  • Contribute to improve procedures and overall profitability of the company
  • Supervisors must be on the plant floor 10 minutes before and after all work transition periods (start up production or stop production). The company loses 10 minutes or more at each transition period (the time it takes for actual work to being). By being on the floor this can be cut to 5 minutes or less.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in preparing sample/tech packs for each product.
  • The sample/tech pack must contain: 1. Labor standard 2. Prepare visual aids showing steps in production, common errors, finished product. 3. List of things to look out for or tips to help production.
  • Assist the Plant Manger in developing a change-over producer an implement it.
  • Assist in any other area needed by Trotters Sewing Company

It is your job to work with sewers, inspectors, cutting and management as a team to help make Trotters Sewing Company efficient and successful.

Expected Hours of Work

Monday through Thursday 6:30 am - 5:00 pm (Occasionally Friday hours)

Upholstery Sewers

Summary

Come expand your upholstery sewing skills on the job! Our facility is clean, climate controlled, and female family owned!

Starting pay: up to $15/hour depending on experience
Schedule: 4 Day Work Week: Monday-Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm

We are looking for someone with the following skills:

  1. Ability to top stitch
  2. Work with single and double stitch sewing machines
  3. Good quality
  4. Ability to identify nonconformance
  5. Positive performance record including good attendance
  6. Sewing various types of materials (leather, cloth, and vinyl)
